Analisis Dinamika After New Social Movement Pada Gerakan Indonesia Gelap

Abstract

Research on "IndonesiaGelap" as a contemporary social movement in Indonesia through the framework of the after New Social Movement. The research aims to analyze trigger conflicts, digital activism, the construction of collective meaning and identity, as well as the power relations and structural barriers that shape these movements. This study uses a qualitative approach by analyzing digital discourse, social media narratives, online sentiment, and socio-political developments that are the background for the emergence of #IndonesiaGelap hashtags at the beginning of Indonesia's new government period in 2025. The findings of the study show that they arise due to the increasing anxiety of the younger generation about economic uncertainty, declining trust in government institutions, education policy controversies, democratic declines, and perceptions of social injustice. Digital platforms serve as alternative public spaces expressing criticism, emotional solidarity, satire, and symbolic resistance through decentralized and network-based participation. There is a contest between the narrative of optimism and development with the counter-narrative of young people. Through the perspective of after NSM, this study found that Dark Indonesia represents a change in the form of social movements marked by fluid organization, emotional mobilization, symbolic politics, and the transformation of digital discourse into offline collective action. This study concludes that the activism of the contemporary young generation in Indonesia is increasingly moving towards democratic meaning, recognition, and accountability rather than through formal political structures. This research contributes to the understanding of digital activism and contemporary social movements in Indonesia's socio-political development.
