Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Peternak Kambing melalui Pemanfaatan Mesin Chopper Multifungsi sebagai Penyedia Pakan Ternak

Indonesia has significant potential in sheep and goat farming, but it is still dominated by small businesses with limited technology. Limited livestock ownership hinders its development as a primary source of income. Key challenges include feed shortages during the dry season and suboptimal waste utilization. Furthermore, feed production capacity remains low and inefficient. To address these challenges, this community service program was designed to provide and implement grass choppers and ribbon mixers for the Manunggal 2 Farmers Group in Jurug Village, Jumapolo District, Karanganyar Regency. The development process involved several stages, including design, fabrication, testing, and training the local community in machine operation and maintenance. Results showed that farmers were able to operate and maintain the machines effectively, thereby increasing efficiency in feed preparation and processing livestock waste into organic fertilizer. The developed machines demonstrated several advantages, including high production capacity (up to 45 kg/hour), uniform cutting results, and reduced labor requirements. Furthermore, the program not only provided a technical solution to address food shortages but also increased youth participation and strengthened local economic capacity through the application of appropriate technology. The success of this program provides a strong foundation for further replication and development in other regions facing similar challenges.
