Abstract

This study examines the effect of workload and work-life balance on teacher performance, and tests the mediating role of Gemini AI utilization. The sample consisted of 250 teachers from schools registered as Google Reference School Candidates (KSRG) across Indonesia, selected using purposive sampling followed by proportional random sampling. The instrument was developed from indicators of workload, work-life balance, Gemini AI utilization, and teacher performance, measured on a five-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings show that workload has a positive and significant effect on Gemini AI utilization but a negative and significant effect on teacher performance, work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on both Gemini AI utilization and teacher performance, and Gemini AI utilization has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Gemini AI utilization also significantly mediates the effect of workload (competitive mediation) and work-life balance (complementary mediation) on teacher performance. Managerially, KSRG school management should keep teachers' workload proportional, strengthen work-life balance policies, and provide structured training so that Gemini AI can be optimally integrated into teachers' daily instructional and administrative tasks.
