Abstract

Sejatinya, setiap mahasiswa merupakan generasi muda yang akan terus menjadi inisiator strategis bagi inovasi dan kemajuan dalam dinamika setiap peradaban. Perlu ada keberlanjutan sinergis dari kesuksesan para mahasiswa yang tidak hanya menorehkan sejarah yang berkelas dalam pencapaian akademis dan sosial, namun turut pula berhasil dalam memilih dan mengoptimalkan berbagai potensi dalam pilihan karier yang tepat untuk dapat berbagi setiap dampak positif yang signifikan atas eksistensi performa mereka. Studi dengan tema kuantitatif ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki secara empiris terkait dengan motivasi intrinsik dan ekstrinsik, pengaruh antarpribadi, paparan karier, nilai-nilai sosial, dan atribut-atribut personal sebagai faktor-faktor determinasi atas aspirasi karier para mahasiswa di suatu universitas. Riset yang melibatkan sebanyak 251 orang mahasiswa yang berkuliah pada kampus-kampus di Bandung ini telah membuktikan bahwa aspirasi karier mahasiswa ditentukan oleh motivasi ekstrinsik, pengaruh pihak ketiga, dan paparan karier, bukan oleh motivasi intrinsik dan nilai-nilai sosial. Temuan ilmiah lainnya ialah bahwa gender memoderasi dampak dari pengaruh pihak ketiga atas aspriasi karier mahasiswa. Universitas memiliki peran strategis dalam memperkuat faktor-faktor eksternal positif sekaligus menumbuhkan kesadaran diri para mahasiswa agar dapat mengembangkan aspirasi karier yang matang dan berkelanjutan, yang seyogianya disertai dengan pertimbangan keragaman gender untuk efektivitas pelaksanaannya.
