Penurunan Intensitas Warna Air Limbah Hasil Olahan Industri Pulp Menggunakan Adsorben Berbasis Fly Ash

Industri pulp menghasilkan limbah cair dengan intensitas warna tinggi yang sulit diolah secara optimal menggunakan metode pengolahan konvensional. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan alternatif teknologi yang lebih efektif dan ramah lingkungan melalui pemanfaatan adsorben berbasis fly ash biomassa. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kinerja adsorben berbasis fly ash dan bentonit dalam menurunkan intensitas warna air limbah industri pulp menggunakan sistem fixed-bed column. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental melalui sintesis adsorben dengan variasi komposisi fly ash dan bentonit, yaitu 0,75:0,25; 0,50:0,50; dan 0,25:0,75. Proses adsorpsi dilakukan pada tinggi unggun 23 cm dan debit aliran 3,5 L/menit. Kinerja adsorpsi dianalisis menggunakan kurva breakthrough serta dimodelkan dengan pendekatan Thomas dan Yoon–Nelson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adsorben C memiliki performa terbaik dengan penurunan intensitas warna dari 778 ppm menjadi 384 ppm. Model Thomas menghasilkan nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,82 dengan kapasitas adsorpsi maksimum 44,8 mg/g dan konstanta kinetika 7,8 × 10⁻⁵ L/mg·menit. Model Yoon–Nelson juga menunjukkan kesesuaian yang baik dengan nilai R² sebesar 0,82 dan waktu breakthrough 50% selama 23 menit. Dengan demikian, adsorben berbasis fly ash berpotensi digunakan sebagai alternatif pengolahan limbah cair industri pulp yang efektif dan berkelanjutan.
